The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced a list of new guidelines for Prepaid Registration. This new guideline will be officially enforced in the nearest future. There will be monetary penalties imposed upon those who fail to comply.

The guideline covers the following:

• To include most recent utility bills as proof of registered address
• An automated and secure registration method is compulsory
• Subscribers are not allowed to have more than 5 accounts per registered ID (accounts prior to 1st June are valid)
• False registration details is illegal – subject to suspension / termination of account and monetary penalties
• Subscriber ID is to be presented during purchase of Top Up
• More new registration methods will be implemented to compliment MCMC’s new guidelines for prepaid registration
